BPL review

This week's Barclays Premier League review. Once again, I'm no expert. =D Let's get the show on the road!

Liverpool vs Manchester United (Match of the Week)

The highly enticipated clash has finally come. Liverpool and Manchester United are both confident they can beat each other. Heck, what am I saying here? zZz Liverpool has two major injury concerns - BIG injury concerns - over star and 58 goal duo, captain Steven Gerrard and striker Fernando Torres. Gerrard has yet to fully recover from the surgery he went, but has a slight chance of making a come back, though Rafa will not risk him. Torres, however, has a higher chance of making a come back.
United meanwhile, has three players back into their first eleven - Giggs, Ferdinand and Carrick. SAF will be hoping to add them into his plans.
Players to make their debuts this week - Dimitar Berbatov(United) and Albert Riera(Liverpool). Both will be looking to impress.
Rafa will be hoping to get his first victory against United in the Premier League in four years, while SAF will be looking to bounce back from that disappointing Super Cup defeat to Zenit St. Petersbrough.

Liverpool 1-0 Manchester United

Blackburn vs Arsenal
Both teams come into this match with different optimism - the home team will be looking for a victory after that 4-1 thumping by West Ham, while Arsenal will look to continue to let the talking be done on the pitch after the emphathic victory over Newcastle. The player to watch this week will be Theo Walcott, after scoring that hattrick against Croatia during the World Cup qualifiers. Blackburn meanwhile, might give former Liverpool, Leeds and Cardiff striker Robbie Fowler his debut after finally signing for Rovers on a pay-as-you-play deal.

Blackburn 1-2 Arsenal

Fulham vs Bolton

Fulham will be itching for acting after their match against United was postponed due to United's involvement in the Super Cup. They will be looking to USA playmaker Clint Dempsey for goals, after he scored twice against Trinidad and Tobago during the WCQ. Gary Megson will be telling his team to wake up after being held to a draw at home against WBA. Megson however, will be sweating over the fitness of duo Johan Elmander and Matthew Taylor, who are both injured.

Fulham 1-1 Bolton

Newcastle vs Hull City

Both teams come into this match being totally outclassed by their previous opponents - Newcastle losing 3-0 at the Emirates, while Hull were totally humiliated at home by Wigan, 5-0 the final scoreline. Newcastle will be playing their first match without the departed Kevin Keegan, after he resigned early this week, while Hull City will look to take advantage on that.

Newcastle 2-0 Hull City

Porstmouth - Middlesbrough

Both teams scored victories in their last Premier League match, with Porstmouth registering their first after two defeats. Both teams will once again be banking on their frontman for goals, after one of them from both teams at least, got on the scoresheet two weeks ago. Middlesbrough will have to look out though - they left it late before managing to beat Stoke, while Porstmouth totally outclassed the blue half of Merseyside Everton on their own turf.

Porstmouth 3-0 Middlesbrough

West Brom vs West Ham

West Brom managed to come away with a point from the Reebok Stadium, and they will surely want to show again that they are no pushovers when they entertain a team that scored four goals in their last match. West Ham however, has new management this week - step in Gianfranco Zola. The former Chelsea striker has signed a deal that will see him take the West Ham hot seat, and he will be looking for his first victory as manager in the Premier League.

West Brom 2-2 West Ham

Wigan vs Sunderland

This is a match that will yet again, pit two teams that had mixed results - Wigan dumped Hull City with the biggest scoreline in the league so far, while Sunderland were dumped at home by the once again Shaun Wright Philips-inspired-Manchester City. Steve Bruce has praised his new signing, Egyptian striker Amr Zaki for his performance so far, and will once again be looking to him for goals. Sunderland meanwhile, will be analysing what went wrong against City, and will be playing for a victory at the JJB Stadium.

Wigan 2-0 Sunderland

Manchester City vs Chelsea

This can be call, the Match of the Week 2. After the deadline deals, which saw City stealing Real Madrid forward Robinho at the last minute under Chelsea's nose, the atmosphere towards the build up of this game has surely tensed up. Petr Cech said that he is going to prove Robinho wrong, while Deco has expressed his feelings towards that deal, saying that he was shocked. Mark Hughes however, might not be fielding him in the first XI, as Robinho is coming back from international duty far away from England. Both teams will also be sweating over the fitness of their key players - City will be without Bulgarian winger Martin Petrov, while Chelsea will be without their midfield hardman Michael Essien, who will be out until next year.

Manchester City 1-2 Chelsea

Stoke vs Everton

Both teams will still be smarting from their last defeat to their respective opponents in 'Boro and Porstmouth. Everton has boosted their forward line in Manchester United striker Louis Saha, who said that he is looking forward to a great partnership with Nigerian stiker Aiyenbeni Yakubu. Stoke meanwhile, will look to build on their record at home, which so far, they have yet to be beaten.

Stoke 0-3 Everton

Tottenham vs Aston Villa

Rarely any team comes away from Stanford Bridge without getting points. Spurs however, did just that. After having suffered two defeats, they scored their first point of the season, and of all places to do that, it will surely serve as a morale boost for Juande Ramos's team as they take on Villa, still looking for their first victory this season. Villa meanwhile, being held to a draw by Liverpool, will surely up their game against Spurs, and once again will be banking on Carew and Ablonglahor for goals.

Tottenham 1-1 Aston Villa

Well, that pretty much sums it up. All the best to every team, and till my next post, I'll see you at the Kop end. =)
