Silent Readers...

Got this inspiration from someone's blog, so I guess I'll do the same.

Just want to take this opportunity to thank the "silen readers" of my blog, because I'm sure the people who reads my blog aren't just those who are in the "hunted by" list (on your right).

Thank you for the support, the comments, and please do continue to do so. I'll try my best to write my best, and write as much as well.

PS: Can someone teach me how to change the template of this blog? I'd like to have a new outlook, instead of just choosing from the options given by Blogger. Your help is appreaciated. Thanks =)

Urgh.. Complain complain complain.

Hehe. Just read a super big complain from one of my friend's blog, and he was SUPER-PISSED with UTAR, complaining about empty car spaces, walking for distance to classes, and having classes in other blocks just because of a final examination for other students. Well, here's my take on all these things.

I'll only go for the UTAR parking lot though, 'cause I don't want to discuss about the "walking for distance to classes", and as for having exams in other blocks (instead of block B), I think that answer is a little too simple. =)

Here goes.

Scenario A: Indeed, I have to agree with my friend here, that indeed, there IS, a DAMN.LOT.OF.PARKING.SPACES. He's right too, mentioning that carparks are only 1/3 used. The rest is empty. FOR.THE.ENTIRE.DAY. FOR.THE.ENTIRE.WEEK. However, that's only for the block B and block D area.

Scenario B: Moving to bock H, the parking lot there is ALWAYS.FULL. I had friends who had to go at 8a.m in the morning JUST to ensure that they can find a parking, and the moment they move their car away, it will IMMEDIATELY be taken by another car, and if you're lucky when you come back, there will be a space. Otherwise, park somewhere else. And judging from what I saw, the parking space at block H is S.M.A.L.L.

Comparing both these scenarios, one might ask why is one side half empty, and why is one side fully parked always. I don't really know the answer, but this is the rational I came up with:

Our ownership of a parking sticker comes through a balloting system. Each student will apply their own car sticker, but every student will come under a certain faculty, and as far as I know, there are 5 faculties. So under every faculty, there's a limit to a certain amount of students that can own parking stickers.

So here's the catch: As far as I know, FBF contains the MOST AMOUNT OF STUDENTS. I heard once that a lecture classes contained of up 200-300 plus of students at one go. Fancy that. So with that, imagine half of the current 11000 students in UTAR right now (or so I heard it was 11000), and out of the half, only half can get it. Say out of 25oo students, 2000 of them own cars, and 500 others owns a motorbikes. With the parking space so small, it's not possible to fit everyone, hence being so full.

On the other hand, say the other half of the 11000 students are the rest of the four faculties (reminder: excluding FBF), and each faculty is relatively small (or that's as far as I'm concern), so with that small amount, hence smaller chances of getting the parking sticker. I myself had been a victim of not getting the sticker for 3 semesters, before finally getting it this semester.

Adding this one other fact: before block, F, G, H, I and J was built, every faculty was using block B, D and E. However, now since it's built, all the cars belonging to FBF students would probably had went to block H, I and J's parking lot. The only problem is: I and J's parking lot is a little too far downhill, and it's also limited too, so yeah.

So once everyone moves, hence the empty parking spaces in block B and D's parking lot.

So here's my question: Why not give more parking stickers to the other four faculties? Before I continute, let me say that I'm not biased over the fact that FBF shouldn't have more. They can have more too, but considering the way UTAR constructed the buildings and it's parking lots, which again, I'll emphasise, it's S.M.A.L.L, perhaps it's a case of too bad then, unless UTAR can find a way to expand the parking lot, which, judging by the way it is now, I don't think so.

Not only the four faculties, one also has to remember the foundation students. Alright, maybe it's because they are on a semester break now, that's why it LOOKS empty. But heck, even when they are back, it's still the same.

My 2nd take: Why not build a bigger parking lot for block F, G, H, I and J? I mean, having already known the fact that FBF contains a lot of students, and putting ALL their classes there (block H), why not "edit" your blueprint and try to reconstruct it better? Don't give me the "money issue" crap; UTAR's rich. And I mean, DAMN.RICH. I wouldn't bother going into details though.

The worst part is: seeing hundreds of cars parking outside UTAR. I see those cars everyday, parking under the hot sun, having to run all the way to their cars when it rains. I know how it feels like, 'cause I once was a victim too.

Not only that, they risk their cars being banged into, and I remember once there was a notice saying "Park at your own risk. Heavy vehicles moving in and out." Wao. So much for "UTAR: My Choice."

Not that the bus service is any good either, though I've never been a victim of THAT.

Perhaps I should be thankful I've got only a year plus left to my studies? Hmm...

Mom: The two boys (me and m brother) always like to eat this (half mashed potatoes) outside.
My brother: It's not because we like to it. It's because it's something that we know what it is, and it's something that we know what we're eating.

He has a point there. =P

Yeah forgive yourself!

There ain´t no drug
There ain´t no drug
There ain´t no drug
No drug to make me well

CNY so far 2

Came back from Seremban yesterday. It was one of the most boring trips ever made. All I did was eat, sleep and played. Urgh. If it was a one day trip, then maybe it'll be ok. But it was TWO FREAKING DAYS!!!! Anyways, let's look at the bright side^^

I spend a night in a nice hotel called Kelana Resort. Like any typical hotel, the "format" of the room is the same. Highlight of staying there: Watching AC Milan vs Manchester United. United won 3-2, and the two Rs were awesone: Rooney and Ronaldinho. Total class =)

Hardly had a good meal during the two days there, but managed to have one "solid" meal before we left. Highlight: Angpow money has increased^^

Well, it's Thursday already, so it's time to get back to work. Kinda scared of the weeks to come, but with God, I don't have to be. =)

Birthday girl today: Joanna. Happy birthday!!! =)

CNY so far...

Chinese New Year so far has been good, despite a few hickups, it was more or less enjoyable. =)

This time though, it was a little different. For once I went for a visitation to a friend's house. Her mom was very nice to not only me, but two of her other friends, one of them apparently very GG =P Anyways, had fun there. =)

Well, today's only the second day of CNY, and still many more things to come. A trip to Seremban tomorrow, and maybe to Penang after that. Not sure about the latter.

Anyways, again, Happy CNY to all my readers, and yeah, journey mercy to wherever you go. =)

I've learned my lesson

I posted this on Twitter, with another line "I wouldn't drive fast next time" at the back, and everyone thinks I got into an accident. Well, I don't blame them, but maybe I shall clarify it here.

I wouldn't go into detail about how it happened, when it happened, who drove or whatsoever. All I'm saying is, I know what its like now to be HORRIFIED when sitting in a car of one who drives ever so dangerously, and I'd like to take this opportunity to apologies to those whom I've fetched before, and scared them. I will learn to be more careful next time.

One of my friends made fun of me, saying that when I drive, it's like as if I want to meet Jesus.

Global warming, and Happy CNY

"Mother Nature, you can't battle her. She's going to win." - Michael Giambattista

This is in the wake of the recent storm hitting the United States, with all roads and public transport closed down, adn really, global warming is coming.

Alright, let's talk about the weather closer to home. Malaysia. There use to be a time where we have "seasons" (inverted comas 'cause we never really had it. Blek =P): rain or shine. Simple. It either shines super hot everyday, or it pours. And if I'm not mistaken, usually during the beginning of the year, the first few months is "shine", then after that it pours. Few months later it shines again, then comes the Monsoon season somewhere during the 3rd quater of the year.

Not this year.

2010 has seen shine and pour, shine and pour for the past weeks, and usually, it rains at the wrong time, and it shines at the wrong time too (yes I'm complaining. Meh). Anyhow, that's not the problem. Problem is, it's happening this way.

Gone were the days when we were rest-assured that it wouldn't rain during a period of time. Even during this month, people are armed with umbrellas and raincoats, not sure when to anticipate rain. And when it's too hot, umbrella comes in handy too.

But really, there's no denying it: global warming is here. The fact that America is getting hit so badly, and we here in Malaysia are anxiously looking out at the clouds near the mountains everyday, shows that it is coming indeed.

Does it sound like I'm scaring you? =P

We can't stop it from happening now, but we can prevent it from getting worse. But heck, I'm sure we knew this before, yet people are still polluting the earth everyway possible. So yeah, enough said.

Word of advice: All of us should beware, and watch out for the weather. Do take care of yourselves out there, and especially during this festive period, may all of you be safe.

Happy Chinese New Year. =)

Think about it...

Taken from "The Disciple's Personality, Masterlife Book 2" by Avery T. Willis, Jr and Kay Moore.

"Christ is to be your Master, EVEN IN YOUR EMOTIONS."

"Spiritual Christians also have strong emotions, but they have learned to master their emotions by CONTROLLING THEIR RESPONSE to their emotions instead of LETTING THEIR EMOTIONS CONTROL THEIR RESPONSE."

"A spiritual Christian learns more and more to RELY ON THE HOLY SPIRIT instead of the flesh."

"He (Holy Spirit) is present in your life to give you the ability to CONTROL YOUR EMOTIONS."

"DENYING/SUPRESSING YOUR EMOTIONS DOES NOT HELP. You can deal with your emotions ONLY IF you recognise it."

"Although emotions are spontaneous, the actions they produce DO NOT HAVE TO BE."

"The Bible teaches that YOU ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR HOW YOU CHOOSE TO LET YOUR EMOTIONS CAUSE YOU TO BEHAVE."

"The choice of how to respond is YOURS."

"Not only do your feelings INFLUENCE THE WAY YOU ACT, but the way you act also determines HOW YOU FEEL."

"You can change the way you feel by CHANGING YOUR ACTIONS."

Realisation...

I have to say this: We're living in a generation where tradition is no longer important.

Ain't that the truth.

Nothing seems as it is..

I quote a friend on this blog title.

Seriously, nothing is going well at the moment. What's with piled up assignments and presentations, loads of replacement class, and lecturers FFK-ing classes. Phew...

*EL was suppose to have a replacement class this (Friday) morning, and when I called the lecturer, he was on his way to Penang. Loads of other confusing stuff in between, but apparently our class has been "replaced". The agony of EL when I told them...*

Anyways, it's not only that, but also some other personal stuff that I will not go into detail. It's too sad to tell, and I don't even want to mention it the slightest BIT.

So yeah, hence the blog title.

Up to you...

You may not be able to change the past, but you can always change the future. It's just the matter of how you do it, and how you face it. I guess the future is really in your own hands. God can help you, but you've gotta play your part. God knows the plans He has for you (Jeremiah 29:11), but it's all about making the right decisions in life, and unfolding THOSE plans. Really, it's all UP TO YOU.

God bless.

Whoops... And there goes January..

Heck? One month gone already. And 11 months left...

"Wa, people only started counting down for CNY, and you countdown for 2011 already? Lols.."

Well, not that I'm already looking forward to my graduation year (wa cheh), but I'm just trying to... Keep up with time? Every time a year goes by, we always wonder how time flies. Well, I can tell you: Time flies VERY, VERY FAST.

Before I know it, it'll be Chinese New Year again. Then before I know it, assignment deadlines and presentations. Then before I know it, Easter. Then finals. Then semester break. And probably mission trip^^ Then new semester. Then repeat of an entire semester again. Then finals. Then break. Then Christmas.

Then 2011.

Sounds like a routine eh? But this is just an outline of what I know will happen. What I DON'T KNOW is what happens is between, and as far as I can tell, it's only week 3 of this current semester, and I already feel like... Ahh better not say it. Meh.

Well, I can only hope for the best, do my best, and let God do the rest. After all, He's in control. I'd like to bear that in mind^^

Ps: A pastor once told me I was running away from leadership, and told me not to. Phew... It IS tough not to.
