It's that time again, where after all the matches are played, I review them. Ahh.. Need a reminder? I think not.. Let's roll!
Team(s) of the Week:
1. Wigan - Registered their first win in some style, crushing Hull City 5-0. Total humiliation for the home side. Ame Zaki scored twice, with Heskey and Valencia on the scoresheet as well, the last goal being an own goal. Yeap, reward goes to them alright. Hands down.
2. West Ham - Answered critics with a crushing display, with by the second largest margin of this week - 4-1 "Hammering" of Blackburn. Davenport opening the scoring, with an own goal by Samba. Roberts pulled a goal back, but Bellamy and Carlton Cole scored to put West Ham second in this list.
3. Manchester City - For the second week running, City scored 3 goals - this time against Sunderland. Plus point - City won at the Stadium of Light! A double SWPhilips, and Stephen Ireland, who gave City the lead, gives Mark Hughes side a good start at the top of the league, which they are now in third place.
4. Porstmouth - Emphatic victory of the Blue side of Merseyside. After suffering two consecutive defeats to the Big Four, Reknapp's side decided that they will take Everton as their first victim for a backslash. And so it was - 3-0 the scoreline, Defoe scoring twice, and Johnson also in the socresheet.
Player(s) of the Week
There are a lot to choose from, but special notice will go to these two players: Shaun Wright Philips and Jermain Defoe. Both players has surely send a message to Fabio Capello that there are players capable of playing for England, and that England isn't all about Owen, Ronney, Gerrard and Lampard. Scoring twice over the weekend, they will surely have given Capello something to think about, and perhaps that's what the Italian needs. So much for "only having 35% of players to choose from".
Ps - Heskey, Johnson, Bent also scored. Consider them. =)
Penalty Misses Award
Well, this week has been a week of missing penalties. It already started last week, when Bolton captain Kevin Nolan missed against Newcastle. This week, it's Roberts(Blackburn), Downing(Middlesbrough), and Yakubu(Everton) who all missed penalties, whether it's saved or wide.
Scoring Twice Award
These players have worked their ass off, so give them a bit of credit why don't you.
- Shaun Wright Philips (Manchester City)
- Ame Zaki (Wigan)
- Robin Van Persie (Arsenal)
- Jermain Defoe (Porstmouth)
Yup, I think that's all I have for you peepz for this week. The BPL be taking a break due to the World Cup qualifiers. After that.. It continues. What the heck.
Till then, I'll see you at the Kop end..
