Yeah yeah...

This is a totally good one. However this time, instead of giving you the link, I present to you:

From abc123909, via e-mail

Prof Chuah of Utar, you received a lot of flak over your administration of the university. If what your critics say is not true, then why remain silent and not respond to them?

And if the students have so many complaints, why can't you and the rest of your management team solve the problems faced by them?

Prof Chuah, you probably thought that we are only students and Utar can make easy money from this resource. But how long can Utar continue to earn money if it does not improve?

Utar maybe around for several decades. Maybe I'm speaking too soon, but at this point in time, I won't even consider sending my children to Utar.

Behind all the students in Utar are their parents who will be deciding the future of Utar over the next 10 years.

Utar is a private institution and no doubt profit oriented, and the 'customers' are top priority and always right.

A lot of great lecturers left Utar, not because of the students, but because of the management. Is this primary problem being solved? I don't think so.

Students pay high fees and in return get poor quality of management and facilities.

Prof Chuah, listing out the problem of Utar is waste of time and I believe you are already aware of it.

I've been in Utar for three years and I've rarely seen you show up and interact with students or get feedback from them.

If Utar is really that good, would you send your children to study under in an unconducive environment? Tea meetings serve no purpose and have not resolved students' woes.

You have yet to explain the unreasonable fee for the sport complex which no is one using and the unreasonable facility charge added on the first semester payment each year.

A response is required. Maybe this feedback may not even be effective enough to change the direction of Utar, but as a leader of Utar, you are the one responsible for Utar.

If you cannot bring about changes in the short term or even in long term, I advice that Utar cancel all its leadership programmes.

Zero effort equals to failure. This applies to all endeavours Prof Chuah should know about it.

Week 9 onwards

Yes indeed. Time does fly. It's end of July. World Cup has ended, but the new BPL season is coming. NBA season has ended, but the World Championship is coming. F1 is midway through its season, and it's exciting indeed. But this?

This is shit.

Yes. From here on out, it's going to be another period of onslought assignments. Non-stop, action-packed deadlines (wa cheh), "Two Potential Midterms", as quoted by Leong Kwan Yi, presentations, and yeah, lots of UNNECESSARY.WORK.

I won't go into details about that, 'cause seriously, it ain't worth remembering. All I know is, there will be two assignment deadlines this week, another 3-4 next week, and ANOTHER 3 the week after. And ohh, there's also one or two in week 12 I think.

Two assignments for Discourse Analysis, two for Language for Negotiation and Persuasion, another two for Feature Writing, and we haven't even got the assignment for Research Methodology yet. Phew.

In the end, I got only two words:

Good luck.

Absolute Zero 4

Hohoho it gets worse. Read THIS:

http://www.freemalaysiatoday.com/fmt-english/opinion/letters/8213-chuahs-on-his-own-selfish-kpi-at-the-expense-of-good-staff

Indeed, we sing All American Reject's "I give you my Dirty Little Secrets".

I think if this keeps up, UTAR is going down, especially the president. He may deny all he want, but the facts are there.

And the TRUTH is there.

He's just fighting a lost case in my opinion.

Suck it UTAR.

From My View

Yet another peice to read. Although very short, but still quite true.

http://www.freemalaysiatoday.com/fmt-english/opinion/letters/8152-students-paying-a-heavy-price-for-high-handedness

Lecturers being forced to teach subject that is not within their field of experties. I mean, hell. Can you teach something you've never heard of? Can you teach something you've never learn before? Honestly, what logic is there to let a lecturer teach a subject that they themselves are learning?

Yet at the same time, whose to blame? Top management? Head of Department? Dean? I don't know. I don't know who assigns who teaches what, but I have a word for them:

Try being in their shoes and teach something alien. You who assign thinks it's easy, 'cause it ain't your ass on the line here. These lecturers have to suffer, and yes I use the word "suffer", 'cause they have to start from scratch. Yeah, probably you had your ass on the line before, but hey, no one says you should do the same to others.

Know what's the best part? They tell you that you are to teach a new subject, A WEEK before the semester begins. Talk about superhuman. I mean, how much can a lecturer learn up in a week? He or she ain't got no time to prepare everything. The best they can do is, prepare for Week 1, and while in Week 1, prepare for Week 2. It's not that bad if one is a tutor (though still equally bad =P), but it's worse if one's a lecturer.

I remember last semester. I had a lecturer whose new to the subject. Guess what? He basically just read from the slides without much explanation, 'cause he has no time to prepare his own slides! He had to take from the lecturer who previously taught that subject, and it took him a couple of weeks before he could fully teach it HIS way.

Talk about catching up with time.

Poor lecturers. They already have students to take care of (advisor - advisee, especially those in the FBF, where it's one lecturer to at least close to a hundred students), they have students' Final Year Project to oversee, and they've got admin work to do as well! And I thought admin work is only for those at the admin side. Man was I wrong.

And now they are bombed with new subjects. Talk about living hell. It's almost like it - minus the fire - so don't be surprised if the turnover rate gets higher. Wouldn't be surprised if one day all the lecturers in UTAR decide to boycott class.

THAT'S how bad it can get.

Absolute Zero 3

More views are out in the open now, although the president of UTAR has also spoken out. Here's two more reads on what's really happening inside:

Well well, here's a good read. Take this UTAR.

http://www.freemalaysiatoday.com/fmt-english/news/general/8041-seniors-utar-academics-quit-over-tamper-directive

THIS is EXACTLY what's going on in UTAR. To those studying there and wondering why is UTAR so horrible, here's your answer.

MCA better do something. Pronto.

Cut him some slack

Urgh. Reading the post-comments of the Birmingham - Liverpool game makes me sick. As usual, they are all over him again, critisizing him for taking Torres too early in the game, and the game having no impact at all. Those who defended him says none of the big four has won there this season, but the critisizers say Villa and Bolton did. One of them even said, "Liverpool will get fourth place, not because they are good but because the other teams were unlucky." Some even turned Y.N.W.A (You Never Walk Alone) into You Never Win Again.

My evaluation: Alright. It wasn't the same Liverpool that we saw last week, where they were world class. After travelling back from Portugal, and having the demoralising defeat to Benfica, psychology was Liverpool's enemy today (Sunday). What's more, against a team that apparently none of the big four has won, and Villa and Bolton had... I mean. CUT THEM SOME SLACK WHY DON'T YOU?!

One may argue, "Excuse me, they are P.R.O.F.E.S.S.I.O.N.A.L.S" So? They are still humans. Give them drugs and they'll probably trash Birmingham like they did to Sunderland. Imagine YOU being on the flight back from Portugal, still hanging your head over that defeat to a certain team, and having to face tough opponents who had the entire week of rest. "It's all in the mind" you say. Well, come back with a victory and they might be more geared up. Try having the opponents knack your key players all the time, and you'll have something like what happened in the game - Torres taken off on the hour mark. And guess what? N'gog brought in more chances to the game, although the down point was he took none of them, but what can you expect of a raw striker like him? For him to change the game was good enough, though it'll be icing on the cake if he won it.

Anyways, it's too much for now. Let's just hope they beat Benfica and Fulham next week. YNWA.

Ps - It wasn't a "red week" in F1 as well, as Felipe Massa was the only Ferrari that finished. Fernando Alonso's car went up in smokes AT.THE.LAST.LAP. Fancy that. And Massa only finished 7th. Good job though, considering he started from the back of the grid.

Urgh.. Complain complain complain.

Hehe. Just read a super big complain from one of my friend's blog, and he was SUPER-PISSED with UTAR, complaining about empty car spaces, walking for distance to classes, and having classes in other blocks just because of a final examination for other students. Well, here's my take on all these things.

I'll only go for the UTAR parking lot though, 'cause I don't want to discuss about the "walking for distance to classes", and as for having exams in other blocks (instead of block B), I think that answer is a little too simple. =)

Here goes.

Scenario A: Indeed, I have to agree with my friend here, that indeed, there IS, a DAMN.LOT.OF.PARKING.SPACES. He's right too, mentioning that carparks are only 1/3 used. The rest is empty. FOR.THE.ENTIRE.DAY. FOR.THE.ENTIRE.WEEK. However, that's only for the block B and block D area.

Scenario B: Moving to bock H, the parking lot there is ALWAYS.FULL. I had friends who had to go at 8a.m in the morning JUST to ensure that they can find a parking, and the moment they move their car away, it will IMMEDIATELY be taken by another car, and if you're lucky when you come back, there will be a space. Otherwise, park somewhere else. And judging from what I saw, the parking space at block H is S.M.A.L.L.

Comparing both these scenarios, one might ask why is one side half empty, and why is one side fully parked always. I don't really know the answer, but this is the rational I came up with:

Our ownership of a parking sticker comes through a balloting system. Each student will apply their own car sticker, but every student will come under a certain faculty, and as far as I know, there are 5 faculties. So under every faculty, there's a limit to a certain amount of students that can own parking stickers.

So here's the catch: As far as I know, FBF contains the MOST AMOUNT OF STUDENTS. I heard once that a lecture classes contained of up 200-300 plus of students at one go. Fancy that. So with that, imagine half of the current 11000 students in UTAR right now (or so I heard it was 11000), and out of the half, only half can get it. Say out of 25oo students, 2000 of them own cars, and 500 others owns a motorbikes. With the parking space so small, it's not possible to fit everyone, hence being so full.

On the other hand, say the other half of the 11000 students are the rest of the four faculties (reminder: excluding FBF), and each faculty is relatively small (or that's as far as I'm concern), so with that small amount, hence smaller chances of getting the parking sticker. I myself had been a victim of not getting the sticker for 3 semesters, before finally getting it this semester.

Adding this one other fact: before block, F, G, H, I and J was built, every faculty was using block B, D and E. However, now since it's built, all the cars belonging to FBF students would probably had went to block H, I and J's parking lot. The only problem is: I and J's parking lot is a little too far downhill, and it's also limited too, so yeah.

So once everyone moves, hence the empty parking spaces in block B and D's parking lot.

So here's my question: Why not give more parking stickers to the other four faculties? Before I continute, let me say that I'm not biased over the fact that FBF shouldn't have more. They can have more too, but considering the way UTAR constructed the buildings and it's parking lots, which again, I'll emphasise, it's S.M.A.L.L, perhaps it's a case of too bad then, unless UTAR can find a way to expand the parking lot, which, judging by the way it is now, I don't think so.

Not only the four faculties, one also has to remember the foundation students. Alright, maybe it's because they are on a semester break now, that's why it LOOKS empty. But heck, even when they are back, it's still the same.

My 2nd take: Why not build a bigger parking lot for block F, G, H, I and J? I mean, having already known the fact that FBF contains a lot of students, and putting ALL their classes there (block H), why not "edit" your blueprint and try to reconstruct it better? Don't give me the "money issue" crap; UTAR's rich. And I mean, DAMN.RICH. I wouldn't bother going into details though.

The worst part is: seeing hundreds of cars parking outside UTAR. I see those cars everyday, parking under the hot sun, having to run all the way to their cars when it rains. I know how it feels like, 'cause I once was a victim too.

Not only that, they risk their cars being banged into, and I remember once there was a notice saying "Park at your own risk. Heavy vehicles moving in and out." Wao. So much for "UTAR: My Choice."

Not that the bus service is any good either, though I've never been a victim of THAT.

Perhaps I should be thankful I've got only a year plus left to my studies? Hmm...

CNY so far 2

Came back from Seremban yesterday. It was one of the most boring trips ever made. All I did was eat, sleep and played. Urgh. If it was a one day trip, then maybe it'll be ok. But it was TWO FREAKING DAYS!!!! Anyways, let's look at the bright side^^

I spend a night in a nice hotel called Kelana Resort. Like any typical hotel, the "format" of the room is the same. Highlight of staying there: Watching AC Milan vs Manchester United. United won 3-2, and the two Rs were awesone: Rooney and Ronaldinho. Total class =)

Hardly had a good meal during the two days there, but managed to have one "solid" meal before we left. Highlight: Angpow money has increased^^

Well, it's Thursday already, so it's time to get back to work. Kinda scared of the weeks to come, but with God, I don't have to be. =)

Birthday girl today: Joanna. Happy birthday!!! =)

Nothing seems as it is..

I quote a friend on this blog title.

Seriously, nothing is going well at the moment. What's with piled up assignments and presentations, loads of replacement class, and lecturers FFK-ing classes. Phew...

*EL was suppose to have a replacement class this (Friday) morning, and when I called the lecturer, he was on his way to Penang. Loads of other confusing stuff in between, but apparently our class has been "replaced". The agony of EL when I told them...*

Anyways, it's not only that, but also some other personal stuff that I will not go into detail. It's too sad to tell, and I don't even want to mention it the slightest BIT.

So yeah, hence the blog title.

Horrible week... Already...

It's only Tuesday, and it's a horrible week already. What's with many missing items, including a pendrive which I found, and now THIS.

I don't know what do you call it; it's like measles, yet it doesn't itch. My friend, who is a doctor, said it was virual infection. Apa hell? He also said that my blood count for white blood cell is very high, which is dangerous.

Gracious me, did I push my body this far, till it can get this kind of crap? Or is it because I did not take care of myself well? Perhaps it's a bit of both, but anyways, if it gets worse, I'll be admitted to a hospital in Ipoh, and there goes my semester.

*God, I don't know what You're trying to do right now, but I pray that whatever this crap is, that You will take it away, so that I may continue this sem, because I.DON'T.WANT.TO.DEFFER. Ultimately, may Your Will be Done. Amen*

Deleted Scene

To all my readers: The previous post (If you know which one it is) was deleted as I have decided not to simply pass judgement before knowing the whole story. Just so you people know, it's messier than I previously first thought or heard. And I found out today that "he" added another piece of dirt into the picture. Damn it.

Man, God bless this batch of EL students, 'cause there seems to be NO END to all this trouble-making stories and "politics". Well, perhaps that's life.

I need a break. Can I quit?

This and that..

Sometimes I wonder
Why is my life like this
Why is it that
I must have this kind of surroundings
Why can't I have it better
Why can't everything be good for me

Sometimes I wonder
Why must this world
Be as it is
Why must people quarrel
Why are people so stubborn
Why are there so many
Assholes and suckers in this world

Sometimes I wonder
Why can't people be more cooperative
Why can't people be less selfish
Be more caring
And LISTEN more
Instead of wanting people to listen to them

But then again
I've learn
NEVER to ask why
I can ask every other W-es and H
But never "why"

Sometimes I wonder
About this and that

And here... we... go!! Again...

[Anwar, however, conceded that it was important to master English and agreed that there should be constructive steps taken to improve the usage and understanding of the language.

“But how we do it should be decided by educationists and with consideration towards the national education policy.

“This includes not forcing our children to pass English as a compulsory subject in the Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) as this will result in many students, especially in rural areas, to fail,” added Anwar.]

Retrieved from The Star Online on 29th June 2009

Here we go again.

Just weeks ago, I shared about the importance of English Language, and here is a politician, who is supporting the idea that English is NOT a "must pass" subject. Whatever for?

Just to get people to vote for him?

In all due respect Mr. Anwar, English is a MUST PASS subject. The heck it matters if it's in the rural area, where perhaps the people there might not have enough money to send their kids to school. Why use the rural people as an excuse? What about those from the urban areas? Tell me you don't mean that they don't have to pass either. Best thing is, we've got to PASS BM, a language that's only used in MALAYSIA HELLO. And you're supporting the idea that an international language should not be a "must-pass". What's wrong with you? And by the way, please tell me you passed English.

Also, just like what a friend has said before, if tourists come to our country, and finds out that we speak broken English, what would they think of us? Dude, these people are bound to ask for directions, make enquiries, and you want to speak broken English with them? Gracious me, get out of here man. "Tau tak "spoiling the image of our country?" Padan muka tau". And goodness, you ain't going to speak BM with them. That's a definite "NO NO". I so PROMISE YOU, they are NOT going to UNDERSTAND.A.DAMN.WORD. you say in that language.

So please, English a not "must-pass" subject? Think again.

Idiots...

Sickening isn't it, when people quarrel? What are they quarreling for? For their rights, and because they think they are right. It's fine if it's worth quarreling, but what if it's over small, patty issues? Just so sick when people quarrel over things like "Don't give me so much food", "Why did you throw the rubbish here?", "Why didn't you do this/that?". Of course, there is no certainty of to what extend is worth quarreling, but heck. It's still quarreling. So I came up, with THIS:

"Only idiots will try to fight for their rights when it's not worth it."

I'm an idiot too. ^^

How is this even possible?

"A pass in English has never been compulsory in SPM."

Retrieved from The Star Online, 10th June 2009

Now I know why. Why the level of English is so poor in Malaysia.

To those who do not have good command in English, please forgive me. I'm not condemming you here.

However, how can this be even made possible?! How can English not be made a "must pass" subject? And yet the Government wants people to pass BM at least. This is UTTER CRAP.

And our Deputy Prime Minister, who is also the Education Minister, Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin, was suprised about this, and wants public view of this matter. I want to quote my friend here: "Is there any need to ask the public anymore?"

The obvious answer is a big NO. No question about it. There's no need to ask the public for their views. Please DPM, if you are sharing our PM's passion of being the people's PM, then for this case you are making a big mistake. English IS a must pass subject. How is it possible that you make an internationally used language a not necessary "must pass" paper, yet you want a language only used here in Malaysia a "must pass"? It so doesn't make sense.

And guess what? After asking the public's view, many are against making this paper a "must pass subject". Like what Dr. Mahathir said, not making English a "must pass" subject will spoil the future of Malaysians. And it is so true. I'm sure you don't need me to tell you the importance of English.

Please, if you are going to make BM SO important, I suggest you put more importance to English for crying out loud! Imagine this: Someone does not pass his English paper, but wants to go overseas. Do you think that person will be even qualified to do so? Forget about dreams of going to places like UK or America, not even Australia or New Zealand will want that student. Why? Because he failed his English. Simple.

To whoEVER made this damn rule, TWO.SIMPLE.WORDS.

Dumb E-mails..

I post this before, about Friendster bulletins. The dumb things people do with it, telling you that "if you don't repost this in 20 minutes, your mother will die." This time, I'm going to switch the focus to the e-mails.

Yes, e-mails that tells you the SAME. DAMN. THING.

"If you forward this, your life will be more beautiful."

"If you don't take my advice and forward this mail, I will crawl out of your bed and stab you."

"Ha haha ha hahaha ha haha, ah ho he he ahha, ah ho hii ha, haha. And I thought MY jokes were bad..."

What's more, they give you "live" examples of what happened to people previously when they did not "do what was instructed", saying that other people died of not forwarding these mails. trying to scare the hell out of other readers.

"...
and he doesn't like that. NOT. ONE. BIT."

I mean, get real. Do you really think it will happen? Do you think that something's really going to crawl out underneath your bed and kill you, or kill anyone for that matter? That's what I call, LAME. These people are too free to create these kind of mail, and want to send it all around the world, scaring the life out of them, making them forward the mails they created.

They also try to make you look stupid, saying that "if you are smart, pass this on". Yeah right! Only idiots will pass mails like these on. So if you have, please do not do it again. IT'S. ALL. FAKE.

And I do wish that there will not be anymore of this kind of e-mails. 'Cause it's just...

"...Pathetic..."

Make me a believer. zZz
