Abandoned Blog

This is the 1st time in a long time that I've not posted anything. Such is the level of busyness that I'm not inspired to post any! Lots have happened recently, and lots will be happening in months to come. I view this as one of the most crucial periods of my life.

Few simple reasons:
1.) Graduation! Well not yet, but nearly there. I'm just a month plus away from completing my studies as an English major, but I'm already starting to get lazy. Typical no? But yes, do that, and I'm doomed. Need to buck up.

2.) Work. Oh boy. I didn't think it'll come to this, but it has! What do I want to do after I finish? Teach? Go into music? Counsel? Options, but not many doors opened.

3.) Mission Trip to Triang, Pahang! At first I didn't want to go, but for no reason I suddenly got the inspiration. This time though, I don't want to make a decision just for the sake of making a decision. I want God to lead. Hmm....

Well, that's it for now. Will come back soon. I hope =D

Clear-out Summer

As the title implies. That's what Liverpool needs. The latest set back in our Europa League journey has shown that this club needs a massive clear-out in the squad in order to improve. Otherwise, we won't even last in the Champions League group stage.

Many has discussed it before, and I personally share the same view, so here are the players that has to go:

Christian Poulsen

Sorry, this old horse just doesn't have it in him to play in the Barclays Premier League. It's so tough that his old legs can't catch up. He has tried his best - give him credit - but sorry, he's not going to get first-team football the way he plays. Perhaps he can be good for other teams, but not Liverpool.

Paul Konchesky

An okay left-back, but not enough experience playing at the highest level. Perhaps playing at Fulham too long has gave him that sort of mentality to play "average" football, but a sudden switch to a club expected to play at a higher level has costed him. Now he's on loan at a lower division club, where he has scored his first goal for Nottingham Forest already. Should be sold in the summer.

Milan Jovanovic

I feel sorry for this lad. I don't what is it about him that makes Dalglish not use him. Quite a talented player he is, and even chose to stay despite interest from many other clubs. However, he's just not given the chance to prove himself, and unless Dalglish wants him in the squad next season, he should go too. For his own footballing career.

David N'gog

Now, this needs serious thinking. He's young, at times proven himself (and I say, at times) but when called upon, doesn't seem to deliver. He does make a great impact as a substitute, but when asked to start, occasionally stars, but otherwise, flops. He is still learning I have to say, but learn well he must. Otherwise, I don't see him having a future at Liverpool.

Maxi Rodriguez

ONCE a great player, but now no more. He may be a player who keeps tidy possession, but sometimes Liverpool need more than that. Past his prime? You can argue that, and perhaps that's why he also needs to be sold.

Joe Cole

Another one that needs serious thinking. Unlike Maxi, Joe Cole still has something to offer. His ability to twist and turn away from defenders can be a great asset, though most of the time he ends up being closed down too early, or goes down to a tackle to easily. Unless Dalglish wants to keep him, perhaps for his own good, or for Liverpool's good, he should go as well. High wages, but no high performance.

Now, having mentioned all of the above, I won't say who Liverpool SHOULD sign. There has been a lot of rumours, linking Liverpool with different players from almost all over the continent. Honda, Young, Hazard, Downing, Gervinho, Contrateo (or whatever his name is). Phew. Great players. Young ones too. But the question always remains: Are they good enough for the red shirt?

At the same time, there's also the academy to think of. Players like Kelly, Spearing, Pacheco, Eccleston, Ince, Flanagan, Coady, Ayala, Suso, Sterling, Darby, Mendy, Mavinga, Robinson, Gulasci, Wisdom. All these players are the future. But are they good enough to be in the first team?

Conclusion: Liverpool Football Club has A LOT OF WORK TO DO during the summer.

Who I Am Hates Who I've Been - Relient K

I watched the proverbial sunrise
Coming up over the Pacific and
You might think I'm losing my mind,
But I will shy away from the specifics...

'cause I don't want you to know where I am
'cause then you'll see my heart
In the saddest state it's ever been.

This is no place to try and live my life.

[Pre-Chorus]
Stop right there. That's exactly where I lost it.
See that line. Well I never should have crossed it.
Stop right there. Well I never should have said
That it's the very moment that
I wish that I could take back.

[Chorus]
I'm sorry for the person I became.
I'm sorry that it took so long for me to change.
I'm ready to be sure I never become that way again
'cause who I am hates who I've been.
Who I am hates who I've been.

I talk to absolutely no one.
Couldn't keep to myself enough.
And the things bottled inside have finally begun
To create so much pressure that I'll soon blow up.

I heard the reverberating footsteps
Synching up to the beating of my heart,
And I was positive that unless I got myself together,
I would watch me fall apart.

And I can't let that happen again
'cause then you'll see my heart
In the saddest state it's ever been.

This is no place to try and live my life.

[Pre-Chorus x2]
[Chorus]

Who I am hates who I've been
And who I am will take the second chance you gave me.
Who I am hates who I've been
'cause who I've been only ever made me...

Be My Escape - Relient K

I’ve given up on giving up slowly, I’m blending in so
You won’t even know me apart from this whole world that shares my fate
This one last bullet you mention is my one last shot at redemption
because I know to live you must give your life away
And I’ve been housing all this doubt and insecurity and
I’ve been locked inside that house all the while You hold the key
And I’ve been dying to get out and that might be the death of me
And even though, there’s no way in knowing where to go, promise I’m going because

I gotta get outta here
I’m stuck inside this rut that I fell into by mistake
I gotta get outta here
And I’m begging You, I’m begging You, I’m begging You to be my escape.

I’m giving up on doing this alone now
Cause I’ve failed and I’m ready to be shown how
He’s told me the way and I’m trying to get there
And this life sentence that I’m serving
I admit that I’m every bit deserving
But the beauty of grace is that it makes life not fair
Cause I’ve been housing all this doubt and insecurity and
I’ve been locked inside that house all the while You hold the key
And I’ve been dying to get out and that might be the death of me
And even though, there’s no way in knowing where to go, promise I’m going because

I am a hostage to my own humanity
Self detained and forced to live in this mess I’ve made
And all I’m asking is for You to do what You can with me
But I can’t ask You to give what You already gave

I fought You for so long
I should have let You in
Oh how we regret those things we do
And all I was trying to do was save my own skin
But so were You

So were You

Keep It or Lose It

I saw a video on Facebook today. It was a video about a man crying over the death of his wife/girlfriend (not sure). Well of course, I won't bother posting something like this if the video did not carry any significance.

I wanted not to describe how she died, and in what manner, but I change my mind, 'cause the way she died shows the importance of something else. Let's begin:

The couple were riding a motorcycle WITHOUT HELMETS when somehow or another, they slipped. The lady banged goodness-know-what, and her brain SPLIT INTO HALF. The man saw it, and cried like hell.

Yes I can tell you, the horror of watching that video still haunted me, especially as I'm a motorist myself. The road is dangerous; it is full of pot holes and dangerous fellow motorist, drivers, bus drivers and yes truck drivers as well! We have to be careful and watch out for ourselves and others on the road.

Although yes I've also said before, "On the road, 50% of the accidents are avoidable. The other 50% depends on others", that 50% avoidable accident INCLUDES wearing a helmet when you're riding a motorbike. Riding safely is also part of that 50%.

And ohh please. I'm not saying that wearing a helmet totally protects you; at least it "keeps you safe" from a really "Permanent Head Damage".

So please. Value your life, wear a helmet when you ride. Never think that "Hey the distance is short. No worries mate. We'll come back alive." Keep the discipline and wear it.

Digging It

"You won't have a breakthrough unless you make a break through."

Yes sir. You don't dig it, you don't get it.

We always proclaim Jeremiah 29:11 which says "For I (God) know the plans I have for you, plans to prosper you and not to harm you; plans to give you a hope and a future." Then we go home satisfied, knowing that that verse is promised unto us. Thank you very much God.

But that's it. We stop THERE. We get too comfortable with our lives. That's why a lot of us do not have breakthrough in our lives, and when we see others having superb breakthroughs, sharing great testimonies about how God has work in them, we wonder why God doesn't do the same for us.

When actually much of it is our own fault.

We need not only claim it, but also dig for it. We need to discover what is God's plan for us, not just sit around and wait. It's a matter of whether or not we REALISE the urgency deep in our hearts.

Yes we attend church on Sunday, get all hyped up and say we love God and that we want to serve Him forever. We proclaim He is great and will put Him first in our lives. After service, all is forgotten. Typical? Yeah, 'cause that's us.

I started this post with the quote, and I'll end it with the quote:

"You won't have a breakthrough unless you make a break through."

Your choice.

They Were Not Good... Enough?

Roy Hogdson's reign as manager saw many criticisms from many people (particular from a certain Jamie. Not Carragher though). All of them made (or decided to make) the same decision - Roy is a good manager, but the players are not good enough.

A month plus into his sacking, and the very same players, under a different manager, are on a roll. Yes, four games winning streak, four consecutive clean sheets, two back-to-back away wins since 17 months ago, and confidence restored. And now that Jamie is saying Liverpool has got a very good squad. Contradictory? Ask him.

Some also argued however, that yes Roy is a good manager, but only for certain clubs, which is why he's been recently linked with the job to West Bromwich Albion. But one thing is for sure now: He's not good enough for Liverpool.

For those who are still stubborn, tell me: How can the very same Christian Poulsen that was taunted by fans a few months back, be a good player now? How can THE Raul Meireless who went 16 games without a goal for Roy, scored 4 goals in 5 games for Kenny? And yes even though he left, Torres, in 5 games, managed to score half the amount of goals Roy managed to get out of him in more than half a year!

The difference is simple: knowing how to use the players to their best potential. Roy didn't know how to; Kenny did. And I'm not saying that everything Roy did was wrong; I'm kind of glad he gave the reserves a run out at the Europa League. Still, Roy's tactics were enough to see Liverpool go close to the bottom. Now, we're challenging for a Champions League spot.

And indeed, what a turn-around it has been (minus the Torres departure). Enough said. Next up - Wigan.

Erm... Karma's a bitch? XD

What does his face tell you?

I'll tell you instead:

Chelsea 0 Liverpool 1

And yes make that four wins in a row, four clean sheets in a row, and back to back away victories since 17 months ago.

Kenny-lution

3 wins in a row. 3 clean sheets in a row. Goals all around. Boy it's been a long time since Liverpool had this feeling.

The feel good factor placed by Roy Hodgson certainly didn't last long; the feel good factor injected by Kenny Dalglish is certainly going to last. You want to know why? I came up with a certain theory, and it's simple:

Roy's method is to always wait and go on the counter. Hoofing long balls towards the striker, hoping to build play from there. Kenny's method however, is to always pass and move, and more importantly, GET THE GOAL 1ST. If you've realize, bar Manchester United, all of the games Kenny is in charge has seen Liverpool TAKE THE LEAD 1ST.

See the difference between a negative and positive approach? It took Roy Hodgson 8 games before winning the next (against Blackburn Rovers at home). Kenny is ALREADY ON A 3 MATCH WINNING STREAK.

Also, in Roy's 1st 5 games in charge, Liverpool only managed 4 goals (N'gog, Torres, Gerrard x2). In Kenny's 1st 5, his side scored double the amount (9 goals - Meireless x3, Torres x3, Kuyt, Suarez and Panstil OG)!!! Not only that, Roy's 1st 5 games saw Liverpool conceded 7 goals and two clean sheets, compared to only 3 goals conceded in Kenny's reign. Talk about big difference.

Not only that. Kenny's 1st month in charge already saw him put money to good use, signing Suarez and Carroll, while letting Torres and Babel go. At least Kenny knew his priorities, which is a striker (though he didn't expect Torres to leave so soon I think). Roy however, went on and sign Joe Cole, Poulsen, Konchesky, and Meireless, which all, bar the last one, are not figuring much under Kenny. One might argue though, that at that time, the previous Liverpool owners of Gillet and Hicks were still in charge, but with the sale of Mascherano, surely it has generated some money. Not only that, choosing not to sell Babel, giving him hope that he can play yet putting him on the bench most of the time? Surely that's poor man management.

Next, it's the words spoken out that makes a difference as well. When Roy was in charge, his press conference was left much to be desired, and when a defeat to our fiery neighbours was considered "one of the best performance I've ever since", something's terribly wrong. I can't judge Kenny yet, but from what I've heard so far, he's proper with his words, never letting anything out if it's not confirmed, speaking highly of players etc.

Lastly though, it's the expectations for the club. Roy was "looking" to turn Liverpool into a mid-table club; Kenny wants "higher than 7th". In fact, thanks to him, we can look forward to returning to Champions League football. The changes and hope he brings about.

Next up: Chelsea. The club that one particular striker left for. It's going to be a fiery one, but Chelsea can be beaten. Fingers cross. We Never Walk Alone.

Ohh Ye of Little Faith

God's timing is always perfect. He never makes a mistake. Even if it seems like a mistake to you.

Boy. How I wish this can so easily stick to my mind, 'cause if it does, it'll make my life a whole lot easier. I won't have to worry about the things happening around me. I just have to make sure that the decisions I make are in line with God's will.

Happy Chinese New Year to all my readers and friends. Hope it's a happy one, though the weather is not. A "take-care" message to all my friends who are living in Johor. Flood.

He Has Gone; They Have Come

Come tomorrow night's match against Stoke City at Anfield, there will be a particular name that has been on the team sheet since 2007, missing.

Not because he's injured. Not because his wife is on labour. Not because he's suspended. For once, it's a TOTALLY DIFFERENT REASON.

He left.

No one saw it coming? In a way. No one was expecting it? Can't say so. But not so soon. Not now anyways. But worse of all, it's the team he left for, a certain blue team in London that I don't want to name.

He left no explanation. He left no farewell message. He left Liverpool almost no time to find a replacement. He just.... left.

Of course, he did not leave cheap. 50 million is a lot of money. In fact, a British record. Still, it left lots of Liverpool fans across the globe hurting. LOTS. Including me.

Many questions are left unanswered, though it's sort of answered in some ways. He wants to leave to play for a better club, and believes that in Chelsea, he found it. He wants success in England, which he believes in Chelsea, he'll get it. He wants to play better football, which he believes that in Chelsea, he'll receive it. In other words, these are things that Liverpool can't provide.

Even the arrival of Kenny Dalglish couldn't convince him to stay. Dalglish was already starting a new revolution, yet Torres has waited enough. Apparently.

So this is to Torres: Thanks for the goals and the memories, but please don't come back. I hope you won't regret leaving for Chelsea, which I doubt you will. Still, all the best. On the bench that is.

I quote a fellow Singaporean Red who said this:

"The club doesn't fight for you to play. You fight to play for the club."

So, with that money, Liverpool signed two strikers in Luis Suarez and Andy Carroll. The former, an Uruguayan international who previously played for Ajax Amsterdam, with a phenomenal scoring record; the latter, an up coming England star, with 11 goals in 19 games in his 1st BPL season already.

It sort of covers up (a bit) of the hurt Torres left us with, though one wonders if these two players will do the same as Torres in the future. Nevertheless, Liverpool's future looks bright again, especially if Dalglish knows how to use these two properly. If he does know how to, we're in for a title fight (maybe).

Liverpool's anthem always sings "You Never Walk Alone". The new signings won't, but someone in that blue stripe in London will.

A Sunday =)

Haha it's been a while since I last posted something like this, but today's Sunday is a bit... different.

First of all, was the return of a couple of old friends: Willian, Pei-Qin, and yes Jeffery! =D Boy it's been a long time since I saw these people. Nice to see them back. =)

Second, was a great speaker by the name of Pastor Paul Ang. Funny man too, but full of words of wisdom. God definitely spoke through him, and through him I was spoken to, which I will write in my next post. =)

Then, FIFA 11-ing with Adrian Yap, Samuel Lopez and Lavina. With the late addition of Sam and Adrian's friend, Abel. Couldn't win any of the games at all - even drawing against a one-star team XD - but well it's all about the fun. =)

And yeah, my sister came back!!! =D Though it's not that long ago since I last saw her, but still. Well she's back for Chinese New Year this time. Happy days.

But not too happy in other states in this country. Heard a friend of mine in Segamat is experiencing flood. Prayers with you, and other areas that are affected.

Photos will come soon I hope. Discovered that I like taking pictures, but am super lazy to filter them.

One Republic! =D

Improved Football

Boy what a victory that was (against Wolverhampton). Not only was it an emphatic victory, it was a good, solid AWAY victory.

The reason why I emphasize the word "away" is because we haven't won away from home in a long time. Apparently Liverpool only won twice on the road in the whole of 2010! That's a poor record in Liverpool's standard. Ok, we lost another 3 more on the road this time (Blackburn, Manchester United and Blackpool), which all the more makes the Wolves victory sweeter. And ohh, perhaps I didn't add this - the last time we won at the Molineux was like.... 50 years ago I think. That's a long time ago.

So to win with a pretty big scoreline (3-0) is quite an improvement. Kenny Dalglish's emphasis on 'pass&move' seems to be working pretty well. Less hoofing the ball for someone who don't seem to be able to win much headers, but instead, passing to make him run, which is his asset. Not only that, controlling that crucial area in midfield, pouring men forward to support the frontman, full back bombing forward.

Ever since Dalglish came back, he has often use a three-man central midfield, though rotating between Christian Poulsen and Jay Spearing. The former is coming to life, after receiving much, much criticism earlier in the season. It was his pass that allowed fellow central midfielder Raul Meireless to run into the empty space and create the opening goal. Also, with Poulsen in midfield, it allows Meireless to support Torres in attack, though Liverpool will be boosted by the return of the one legendary skipper and number 8 to the pitch. The latter though, will hope he gets more chance to play in the future. He showed what he can do when called upon, putting up impressive performance against Real Madrid (2008-2009) and recently, against Everton.

The three goals were all well taken, though Meireless' goal got everyone buzzing, most of them saying that it could be the "Goal of the Season" contender. Indeed it was spectacular. But more so was the 3rd goal.

Never have I seen a goal that involved this much passing: 30 passes. Of the eleven, only the Martins didn't get a touch: Kelly and Skrtel. It started with a clearance from Lucas, ending with a Glen Johnson pass which saw Dirk Kuyt broke free down the left, run down the penalty area, got tackled, but still somehow managing to get a half-chanced ball to Torres, whose swiftly hoof the ball into the net.

Conclusion: Worth the watch. More of this please. Yes team may learn to counter Liverpool's 'pass&move', but at least it's better than hoofing aimlessly. If the Redmen can keep playing like this, who knows? We might just win the league. Next season =D

Say Say

"We are, who we decide to be."
- No, we are who God decides us to be.

Well, that person has a point there, but how about seeing it this way? Yes God has designed us to be how He wants us to be, but we all have a choice of who we want to be, and it boils down to only two choices (1) be who God wants you to be, (2) or be who you choose to be.

God can design you to be Exhibit A, but if you choose to be Exhibit B, He can't stop you. All He can do is hope you can come back to Him, and choose to be what He wants you to be. That too, has to be decided.

Everything in life is about choices. Make them wisely. God bless.

BUT HE IS BACK!!!! =D

Yeah he's been back for a while now. A week to be precise. But yes KENNY DALGLISH IS BACK AT HELM AT HIS BELOVED CLUB LIVERPOOL.

Surprising? Not really. The Kop have been chanting his name since last year, and it's only a matter of time before Roy Hogdson left.

Things hasn't gone too well since though, with Dalglish losing his first two games, tho he didn't really have time to prepare for the Manchester United game. Apparently, he didn't even had the chance to choose the team sheet. Still, even with 10 men, Liverpool played a more spirited game, thought we lost 1-0. As for the defeat to Blackpool, we started off way too well, scoring with our first shot on goal. However Blackpool overturned the deficit and won 2-1.

And today, we have.... Everton. Yes, the blue half of Merseyside coming over to compete. The fiercest of rivals you can ever get. The last game Kenny Dalglish was in charge before he resigned. 20 years ago. Now he's back. Hopefully with vengence. Half joking.

Anyways, all the best to him and Liverpool, and hopefully he can turn things around. Let's get a win! =D

HE IS STILL HERE

Yes the title says it all. Speculations are flying in hot that he could be fired today, but up till date, NOTHING IS HAPPENING.

In case you don't know who I'm referring to, it's none other than our "beloved" Liverpool manager Roy Hodgson.

Yes, the one that everyone's calling his head for. The one that everyone is looking to get sacked. The one that they hope not to see during Liverpool's next big FA Cup game against Manchester United.

Well, almost everyone.

There are still some people out there who still believes that Roy needs time. Legends are starting to come out to voice their support for a manager who is tearing their club apart. Even Ian Rush has voiced his support for Roy.

Yet 98% of the fans want him out. Anfield is starting to be empty. The away side of the opponents stadium that we play in is getting empty too, especially the recent match at Ewood Park. Fans are starting to show their frustration of Roy not being sacked, and as long as he's there, fans will not pay their hard earned money to watch hoof and wait. Who knows, one day they might even decide to boycott an entire match altogether. I'd like to see that happen.

Thing is, we don't want it to happen. We are Liverpool supporters, and we're proud of the team we support. We don't want to write another bad history in the LFC record books, when LFC has already failed to preserve many histories that should have been easily kept. Defeats to Stoke, Wolves and Northampton has broken unwanted records; attendance during the Bolton game was one of the lowest since 1997. Who wants all these? No fans do. Yet, it's all there, old ones broken, unwanted new ones are created. No thanks to him.

At the same time, the new owners are not doing anything. Recent speculation is that they are not happy, but not sacking him at the same time. Perhaps due to the tight schedule, 'cause after MU we have Blackpool and Everton - teams that could possibly do a double over us. That is perhaps understandable to some extend, but keeping Roy at the dugout is not going to make any difference either.

Enough said. Bottomline: He has to go BEFORE the MU game. And I said "before", because if he's still manager, Liverpool will DEFINITELY crash out of the FA Cup. If Liverpool change their manager now, they might still have a chance. And perhaps that manager could save Liverpool's season. Fingers cross on that though.

I guess only Sir Alex wants him to stay, 'cause only then will he be in the knowledge that Liverpool will continue to struggle, and that he'll have one rival less to compete with for the BPL title (as Spurs and City are on a rise). He'll also be guaranteed that his side will go through the FA Cup with EASE.

Every morning, I wale up, turn on SkySports, hoping to see him get fired. I can only hope that day will come QUICK.

Happy New Year 2011!

Ahha. So here we are. Finally. In a new year.

NEW YEAR DAMN IT!

Something worth being happy about? Don't know, 'cause it all feels the same to me, except for knowing the fact that it's a new year, which means everything starts back in January again. Which also means classes are starting soon. Which is means there are new things to look forward to. New visions. New missions. New plans. New hope. (New earthquake too, again in Chile.)

Really? Unless there are really such gungho people, most people will create New Year Resolutions, and forget about it by the end of January. Then we'll all start to live like usual. Live like last year. Typical? You decide.

Also, people look forward to change, but do they? Especially this group of people. Sigh. The one area that NEEDS such a change. One can only dream.

Let me rephrase that. One can only DARE to dream.

Well, 2011 also marks the last year of my studies. In fact, I only have half a year left. In other words, one more semester. Can't imagine time really flew that fast, since the year I left for Kampar to study. The friends I've made, the things I've learned. Phew.

However, the next important question comes in quickly: What to do after that? Journalist? Teacher? Tutor? Tuition teacher? Football analyse? Football writer?

I wish for the last two but I don't think my dad will support me in that. Musician? I thought of it, but I'm not qualified, especially the theory part. Well, I guess I'll figure it out.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Ohh. 2011 also means it's halfway through the football season. Liverpool is still unbelievably stuck with the same manager, and I use the word "stuck" 'cause we don't want him there, yet he seems to ALWAYS buy himself some time. Everytime he gets his ass on the line, Liverpool become worldbeaters to save his job. He got himself into hot water of late, which I won't bother going into detail. All I know is, we want Roy Hodgson out now. So simple, yet so hard to do. Sigh

I guess that's it then. Wishing all of you folks a blessed new year. May you accomplish whatever you purposed this year in style. God bless.
