The Devil within me... ?

Keeping sanity in check
But this time is wilder
One part of me says
"Hold on. You'll find it."
The other part of me says
"Give it up. It ain't gonna be there."
Me consciousness?
"Just keep looking, just keeping looking, just keep looking looking looking..."
I did that
And slowly saw light
And....

I FOUND ZIT! ZE DAMNZED ARZICLE! MUAHAHAHAHA!

And I lost my insanity.
Because I found it. XD

Quote again from me.. ^^

I was chatting with an old friend one day, and we're talking about how hard relationships can be sometimes. And I came up with this:

"Sometimes it not about what you want; it's about what is good for everyone."

Yeah. Think about it.

~eNd~

Ohh so help me...

Keeping my sanity in check
Seriously, I can die from it
FYP (Final Year Project) title yet to be confirmed/finalised
Assignments looming
Presuasion speech yet to be prepared

Phew....

God if it's not for You
and if feelings could kill
I can seriously die from it

Where it has all gone wrong...

England crashed out of the World Cup with a humiliating scoreline, and I tell you it'll make the Americans' defeat to Ghana not all that bad.

I may not be a pundit or expert in football but this is where it has all gone wrong:

Selection of Heskey: OHH.MY.GOODNESS.GRACIOUS.ME. Of ALL players. Come on, the way he played makes Michael Owen looked better, and he's been injured all season, rarely getting games at Aston Villa. Seriously, it's just because of his ariel ability that Capello brought him along. Darren Bent must be wondering what was the 25 goals he scored for.

Verdict: Should have brought Darren Bent. Or at LEAST, Gabriel Ablonglahor. Or Ashley Young? I mean, besides Rooney (& Defoe?) England has no other better strikers. Man. Look at Argentina. Messi, Aguero, Tevez...

Selection of Upson: OHH.MY.GOODNESS.GRACIOUS.ME. number 2. Get real Capello. it's ok to pick him, but playing him at the expense of Michael Dawson and Jamie Carragher? No way in hell! I tell you, HE makes Sol Campbell look better now. Carragher and Dawson must have been wondering if their time in South Africa was worth it, especially Carragher, who decided to pull out of retirement to help England again.

Verdict: Well I guess it can't be helped due to Rio Ferdinand's injury. He must be cursing it now. Either way, Carragher or Dawson should have played instead. Carragher's got more experience; Dawson at least had a better towards-the-end season with Spurs.

"Yeah, play Ledley King and he'll be injured 2 minutes later." - Anonymous.

He's really prone to it.

Anti-left-footed player?: For your information, of all players, only Ashley Cole and Stephen Warnock are naturally left-footed. You have to say though, England has never produced naturally left-footed players (except Steward Downing), but even so, using Gerrard on the wings? If it's on the right he might get a few assist, but not left. Perhaps Joe Cole or Shaun Wright-Philips should have played there instead, though the latter didn't look too convincing during the ENG vs USA game.

Verdict: This has been an on-going problem for England, one which many managers don't know or can't solve. Perhaps making the strikers work on the wing would be a better option? Or at least that's how I saw Spain played. David Villa worked on the left all the time, opening up space for midfielders to bomb forward, hence Iniesta's goal against Chile. Again, players like Ablonglahor or Ashley Young are needed. Players that are forward-thinking yet capable of crossing a good ball in (though they are still not left-footed, that has to be said =P)

Terry fiasco: I don't know, but I have a feeling that the entire incident just blew up his mind. Losing captaincy is never an easy thing, and although many said that he should get over it, or has gotten over it, the fact that one of the world's greatest defender can slack up like this (seriously, he doesn't look like what he was in Chelsea) means he STILL hasn't got over it (or that's my opinion). Psychological factor. I have to say, mistakes do happen, but when it happened 4 times, something's not right.

No verdict to this. What's passed is passed. Or perhaps he learned that next time he shouldn't be involved in affairs that involves his England teammate, hence Warnock being selected due to Wayne Bridge's "retirement".

England as a whole: I can tell you I wasted time and sleep during England's opening game against USA. Besides Gerrard's goal, there was nothing else to shout about. I decided not to watch the England vs Algeria game 'cause I felt that England ain't going to win, and the next morning I woke up, they drew goalless.

There's just no spirit in their game. Yeah they probably played well against Slovenia, but I believe that's because they HAD TO! If they don't they'll fall to a draw or a defeat and the English press is going to go all over them again. Well I'll put it this way. The victory over Slovenia only brought them some time. In truth, Slovenia should have qualify. Who knows, they might even have beaten Germany, or at least loss by a more respectable scoreline.

England's going forward has been poor; Rooney wishing he had his Manchester United teammates with him, or at least have Sir Alex - yeah he'll probably know what to do with Rooney - ; Gerrard's been playing out of place, though he probably is the only who had his heart in it - watch the USA game - Lampard not capable of scoring in World Cups (apparently he's the top player to have the most shots without scoring any goals); Barry not fully fit maybe? (It's questionable); defending's been all over the place; Glen Johnson missing at the wrong time; Lennon not doing what he does best at Spurs; goalkeeping woes. You name it.

Verdict: Squad revamp? They seriously look like they need it. Although it's also partly Capello's fault (well he has to take the blame somewhere), this squad never looked capable of winning. Perhaps they should look for players who are eager to make their country proud. Bobby Zamora anyone?

Or perhaps they were trying to do an Ahtletico Madrid (won the Europa League with more draws than wins) but then again, that competition has second-legs. This competition requires teams to win all games from the second round onwards to qualify.

Well, like they always say, the least said about this the better. 3 goals scored (Gerrard, Defoe and Upson) against 5 goals conceded - Clint Dempsey of the USA (blunder of a goal by Green really), two from Mueller, and one each from Klose and Podolski (all Germany) has summed up England's South African journey. Although there are worse things to talk about, e.g France and THEIR fiasco, this is one that's not worth remembering, but it will kept as one of England's worst World Cup. Ever.

"Germany played as a team. England played as individuals." -Anonymous

And that, sadly, is the truth.

PS: I'm sorry, but I'm done being quiet about England. There's a lot more to talk about, like how Lampard and Rooney are expected to deliver, just because they had an awesome season of scroing over 30 goals. It's when the press does something like this that they get nothing.

Positive points to be taken from this game for England? Zero. They probably don't even deserve all their effort.

Takes time to realise...

Yeah. Took me quite a while to realise this, but here goes:

It's not about who influences us; it's about who we CHOOSE to get influenced by.

Dr. Sara Tancredi
Prison Break, Season One

A politician's words....

Attended a talk given by the state assemblymen of Subang Jaya, YB Hannah Yeoh. She shared about how she became a politician with limited resources and limited experience, and how not easy it was for her through that journey of being a politician. Praise God though, 'cause He saw her through, and gave her a good husband.

She also shared about how we can be the "Salt of the earth, and light of the world." It don't mean that being a politician means you can't do anything with God for your country. After all, this IS one of the best position to be WITH the people, and to be FOR the people. I also strongly believe that if she continue with the Lord's ways, many people will be reached out to. How strategic. =)

But there was one thing that she said which striked me, and it goes like this:

"To do great things, there is a price to pay."

But I'm sure that in the end, that "price" we have to pay will be worth it indeed, as it is for the glory of God. Amen. =)

Happy Father's Day

He may not be the most perfect figure on earth
But at least he tries his best to

You may not like to talk to him
But it's when you do
That you realise how much you can learn

He may be angry sometimes
But after awhile
He'll try to get back into a good mood

He may be facing financial situations
But he tries his best to provide
No matter what

He may scold you a lot
But in truth
He does love you

He may discipline you a lot
But now looking back
You've gotta thank him for it

It's thanks to him you're here
It's thanks to him you got education
It's thanks to him you've got a nice house to live in
It's thanks to him you are where you are

I'm not sure about other fathers
Though I know some fathers are better
And some are worse

But all of the above is as far as I'M concern
And the many times we're not thankful
For the people that made our today
So here it is to my dad
And too all others too

Happy Father's Day

Ps: To the fathers of the future, wait till you're officially one before I wish you. =P

Chapter 2 of Sarawak Mission Trip (Day 2, 19th May) - Update

There is just no end to the classic-ness of Daniel Chi Wei Wen. This is a picture "of an ant carrying his dead friend." LOL

I forgot to mention in chapter 1 that our initial plan was to stay at Pastor Daniel's church for a night, and head out early in the following morning to Debak, but the change of plan saw us head for Debak first instead, and get a good night rest over there. It turned out to be a good move, as most of us slept very well on our first night in Sarawak.

8 a.m

Rise and shine! Beautiful second day in Sarawak, not because of the sunshine, but the rain. The weather was perfect, as it rained the whole night. I woke up half an hour later. =P 15 minutes towards 9, and breakfast was served. And guess what? We had yao cha quai for breakfast! How cool is that! Well, didn't really expect that to come from Iban people, but then again, they are full of surprises aren't they? Anyways, it is known as "cha kuih" among the Ibans, so we enjoyed a little bit of Chinese cuisine, and hot Milo.

And coffee. Apparently PC brought along a tin of Nescafe, 'cause it seems that she can't live without it. XD Well, coffee lovers enjoyed the share, and some even mixed it with Milo, which becomes Neslo. Smart eh? ;) We finished breakfast in 45 minutes, and washed up our respective plates and cups.

First morning in Sarawak, and it's beautiful already. =)

10 a.m

It was prayer and devotion time, and Pei Lee led us into a time of worship. PC then led us to read a Scripture on boldness, and all of us learned that we need God to help us to be bold to speak to others. However, PC did also mentioned that sometimes it has to start from somewhere, and it can start with being bold to speak up among one another. We prayed for almost an hour, praying for Oi Kam who will be sharing her testimony on that night, and KL, who will be preaching on the same night too.Happy ladies... =)
... plus two slumber guys and another happy lady

12.05 p.m

Lunch! Menu: unknown vegetable and chicken (if I recall correctly), and man, was it delicious!!! Sarawakian folks are really great cooks, but they also told us that it's thanks to the freshness of the vegetables that enables them to cook it so delicious. Anyways, we totally enjoyed ourselves totally, and proceeded on to wash up our plates.

One thing about Sarawakian people: They are very hospitable people. They'll always make sure you have enough to eat and drink, and they'll always encourage you to eat more. Guess perhaps this is the way they treat their guest. Well....

1.30 p.m

Since there was nothing much to do except to wait for nighttime to fall, most of us went into our respective preparations. Some of us including yours truly took a nap, as the weather was a bit hot by then, making us feel sleepy. Hee ^^v Anyways, we were suppose to practise the body mime again, but decided to let KL finish her preparations for that night, hence waiting till 3 hours later. Practise went well, and we went to clean up ourselves and prepare for dinner.

Ohh by the way, I missed out the part in the earlier post that we're presenting a body mime to the people over there, using the "Set Me Free" mime as our theme. The presentation will be o Friday night.

6 p.m

We had yet another fantastic meal. And that's all I can tell you, 'cause I did not record down details about every meal that we had. It's just frigging delicious. Man you've just got to go there and try it out yourself. =D Anyways, finished dinner, and we're all set for our first longhouse called the Muton longhouse.

Before this the team was informed that there will be a change of plan concerning Thursday and Friday. Apparently we're not going to the Kerepok longhouse, but instead going to a different one, not only meaning that we're not staying overnight at that longhouse as planned, but also that one of us (between me and Daniel) was not going to share our teaching. I was kind of hoping it was me, 'cause was kind of scared too =P, but anyhow, waited till after the Muton longhouse visitation to find out who will be sharing the following night.

7 p.m

The journey to the Muton longhouse was a bit short - 25 minutes to be exact. When we arrived there, the longhouse I saw wasn't what I expected. It looked more like modern houses, not those standing up tall, and us having to climb a staircase to get up there, sort of thing. What's more, it a double story longhouse too. Fancy that.

What a modern longhouse looks like...

The cell group started at about 7.30 I think (didn't really check on the time). Pastor Liang led us into a time of worship, and it was our first ever worship session singing songs in Iban. It's kind of interesting, as their language is a bit different from BM. After the worship, we were to introduce ourselves, but the one funny thing we were to say was...

Pastor Johnny: "You have to mention whether you married or not. Ahh..."

Well, basically none of us are. Heck, none of us are even attached to anyone (minus SOMEBODY). Anyway, we went ahead with the introduction, and they were joking about having us to get married to a local. =D

Time of worship together. Singing Iban songs.. =)

Next up was KL's preaching (and also the children's ministry, conducted by Daniel, Joyce and Patty). Hats off to her really, 'cause she was willing to do the preaching despite having cough for almost two months already. Halfway through, she invited Oi Kam to share her testimony, and Oi Kam shared about how Jesus is Lord in her life. That was the topic of KL's message by the way.

After finishing, Pastor Johnny spoke a little more (but what I don't know, 'cause he talked in Iban and none of us understood =P). Anyways, he requested to those who need prayer to come out in the middle to be prayed for. Four people did (two ladies, a man and an apparently very sick kid). One of the ladies shared about how she always end up having to face some sort of trouble as she leaves for cell group. It was as if Satan was working against her, she being a new believer. The man shared about how sick his daugther was, and Pastor Johnny prayed for the both of them. After praying, I went in to check on how the three of them were doing with the kids, and they seem to be enjoying themselves, helping the kids make mask.

KL preaching....

Oi Kam sharing her testimony....

Patty, Daniel and Joyce with the kids

Fellowshipping with the longhouse folks....

9.30 pm

It was time for tea-fellowship. The locals over there brought out plates of biscuits and cups of tea. All of us took a bit of strawberry-sandwich-biscuits, and a cup of tea each. Some were mixed with milk, and I took THAT. =D

Anyways, it was during this time that I managed to take the opportunity to chat with the man whose daugther was sick. Apparently, he lost his wife 6 months ago, and has 6 children under his care. The worse part was that his income wasn't much - RM15 a day is all he gets, and he has no money to cure his sick daugther. I really pitied him, 'cause with such a condition and having no mother to take care of them, it's really painful, though I have to admit, I don't understand how painful it was. I also took the opportunity to pray for him, and I do hope that he'll continue to have faith in God that everything will work out fine.

We departed at about 10 p.m or so, and as we bid goodbye to that longhouse, I realised how beautiful the sky is in Sarawak. I was already amazed by the food, but the sky... Well, there's really no suitable work to describe it. Or as Daniel sings, "Indescribable."

It was full of stars!!! The moon was also very clear too. Magnificent really. I went crazy and sang, "When I look at the stttttaaaaaarrrrrrrrrsssss, when I look at the ssssttttttaaaaaaaaarrrrrrrsssss...." It was beautiful. =)

We got back safely, and it was decision time. PC got the decision from Pastor Johnny, and my topic "Be Faithful" was chosen.

GG.

10.40 p.m

It took me awhile to swallow the news, but I acknowledge that this is God's will being done. My co-teacher Ee Chiet, was kind of excited as well, so there we go. And I praise God for the following event.

I was talking to Daniel about what we have seen and heard in the Muton longhouse, and Daniel suddenly thought about how he could help me improve my message (since he has nothing to worry about now. He was totally relieved to hear that he did not have to share anymore btw. =P)
He then told me, "Now that we have learned a bit about the Ibans and their livestyle, maybe you can apply a bit about it into your message."

I praise God! 'Cause really, I needed something else to change my message. Not that my first draft was not ok, it's just not... convincing enough? Re-drafted my entire message, and with the help of God, PC, Ee Chiet and Daniel, I managed to do finalise what I need to say tomorrow.

1.30 a.m

At last. More or less finished the entire thing. Now is just to check again tomorrow to see what I've missed out. Drained. Exhausted. But thankful. At least I get to sleep in peace. =D

Waiting for tomorrow....

Chapter 4 of Sarawak Mission Trip (Day 4, 21st May)

Friday.

This was the first day of the entire trip where it did not rain a single bit. It was hot already in the morning. Ohh by the way, I forgot to mention that Sarawak is about half an hour earlier than Semenanjung. Our 7.30p.m is their 8p.m, so it'll probably be the same for the morning.

For 8a.m, it was BRIGHT!!! It's like as if it was almost 9a.m to 10a.m in Semenanjung. I switched on my phone, saw the time and said, "No way..."

I was still tired from the previous night, but heck. I've still got to wake up anyway, 'cause today is a little different. Today's first itinerary was prayer and devotion.

The entire team slumber-ly walked towards the hall, some widely awake, and of course some including yours truly still longing for bed. Anyhow, it got underway, and it was Patty's turn to be in charge of devotion for that day.

*Can't exactly remember what we did, but if I do I'll take away this particular section*

9a.m

I was sitting in front of PeiLee, feeling hungry, when I notice the t-shirt she was wearing. And guess what. Of ALL things in mother nature to talk about, the t-shirt labelled "HUNGRY!!! I want breakfast." Or was it the other round I forgotten. Anyways, it was about being hungry and wanting breakfast, and my stomach growl louder.

PC to the rescue! She said it's best we have breakfast first, and come back later to pray again. She said that it's no point rushing through our prayers 'cause we want to eat.

She has a point. ^^v

We had "chai kuih" again, and this time, another food that is very familiar among Malaysians: "Dai Gau Min"!!!! (Sorry I don't exactly know how to translate this) It's softer in texture, and it taste better too! Hee hee =D ate a couple of it, and with Milo... Ahh. "What a wonderful breakfast."

9.45a.m

We went back to pray. After doing so, PC briefed us again on what we're suppose to do for that day. All of us were anxious yet excited, even though it's a very last-minute thing. We immediately went into action.

Ohh before that, we had a short practise for the skit again. =D

11a.m

EeChiet, OiKam, Daniel, Patty and yours truly were given the assignment of conducting ice-breakers for them in the afternoon when they arrive. Given the amount of experience in terms of knowledge of ice-breakers we had among us, laying out the games wasn't much of a problem. The problem was the materials we had with us, and the uncertainty of the number of people come. Thankfully, we had materials for certain games that we suggested, and we also used the "environment" to our advantage (e.g. chairs)

The games were finally chosen, and it'll be revealed as this chapter goes on. ;)

After long period of discussion, it was time to... EAT AGAIN!!! Yes, the never-ending fairy tale of Sarawakian food goes on. And it stays delicious too! 5/5 hands down. Enjoyed the food again, though mostly the same, but heck...

Some of the students have already arrived, while the rest are still on their way. So we wait.

4p.m

Believe me. That's how long we've waited. Whole afternoon. At least that gives us time to prepare some of the stuff, while it also gives others time to prepare for their preaching and teaching for the following day.

We gathered them, and led them into a time of ice-breakers, and so here goes:

The first ice-breaker: Bingo! Well, as this is the first ice-breaker, the main purpose was to get to know each other better. The game goes like this: Each member will be given a paper that is folded into 9 sections. On each section, they will be given something to fill in, e.g your birthday's month, your shoe size ect. Once they complete filling in, they are to find another person who has similar details/have details that matches. Once they find it they are to tick that detail, and go on to find another person who has another similar detail. As mentioned earlier, the game is called "Bingo", so the moment they find the details needed to draw that line that creates a "bingo", they win.

Sad part was I couldn't remember the exact details of the game during that time, and it got a little confusing towards the end. However, again, this game is to "break the ice", so I made everyone winners. To cover up my mistake. Smart kan? =D

Game two: Rubber band-passing game, using straw. Each member is to have a straw, some having two or three straws stuck together, and they are to pass the rubber band with the straw. Whichever team that gets the most straws in the space of 5 minutes will win.

It turned out to be very amusing, kids trying to bend down to receive the straw, while some tried to make themselves taller in order to "transfer" the straw to the next person. In the end, team 2 had 4 straws, while team one only had 2.
You've gotta dance your way through... =D

Game three: Paper-scissor-stone on chairs. Both teams are to be on either end of a row of ten chairs. Each team will send a member, and that person will have to sit on each chair, move forward to the opposite side until both members from both sides clash. They are to play a game of paper-scissor-stone, and the winner is to move on, while the loser makes way. In the mean time, the losing team sends another member in order to prevent the current winning person to move on to the other end. The moment that person reaches the other end, that team wins.

Talk about aggressiveness. And I thought I've seen worse. These kids literally rocked the chairs! The likes of PeiLee, Patty, Doreen and EeChiet had to hold the chair so that they are in position. In the end team 1 won (if I recall correctly).

Game four: Action-dummy game. Two representatives are to come out. One of them will be given a piece of paper, where they will be instructed to do a certain action. What is in that note, only that person knows, which means the other person doesn't. The person who received the instruction will use the other person to do the action, e.g. cycling or Superman. The members from their group is to guess. If unable to, it is open to the floor.

Creativity and intelligence. Don't underestimate these kids. They seem to "communicate" in their own language, a.k.a acting out something that doesn't mean anything to use, yet THEY somehow know. Amazing isn't it? =PPPPP

Guess what? They still want more games! Another thing not to underestimate: their stamina. The entire team looked tired (or to me they do =D), but these kids still want more! We chose the game "Boss and fiza".

Ps: I wouldn't explain this game 'cause it's to complicated to put it in words. And anyways, the game failed, which I wouldn't explain why either. =D

5.30 p.m

Bathing time, and the kids immediately booked all available washrooms. After they are done, it was our turn, and dinner time came after an hour.

8 p.m

Ps: Same routine happened during dinner time: you eat and wash your own plates. Food again was nice, and I think I've been saying that all along, so there's no need for me to repeat it. Session starts! The youths of the church over there conducted the worship, and the oldest youth over there was 18 years old! Wao. Not bad. =)

Then came Doreen's turn to preach. She was a little nervous (goodness who wouldn't be?) but I think she did well. Didn't get to hear much of the message 'cause we went in to prepare ourselves for the skit/body mime. In between her session, Irena shared a testimony, which after that we conducted the mime.

Doreen, very thoughtful even as she shares

Summary of body mime: It went well, and somehow you get that satisfaction that your efforts has paid off. There was only a small problem though, when the chains literally broke. When I reach there to grab the chains, I felt a little weird, 'cause the chains were WAY.SHORTER than it was suppose to be. Anyways, I pulled whatever remainder there was, and continued on with the act. Smart ;)

Doreen then ended the session with an altar call, with me going up to play the guitar. The team prayed for the kids, and all that's well ends well. =)

After the session, we were called by Pastor Johnny to pray for someone else. Apparently this girl has a mother who was having some blood clog or something, and the mother doesn't seem to be doing to well. PC prayed for her, and the entire team came with support for the girl.

9.45 p.m

The night was obviously still young, so we took this opportunity to talk to some of the youths. I of course went to the guys, who were the musicians as well: Alex and Steven (There seems to be countless Stevens and Stanleys in Sarawak). Alex is curretly in Lower Six, while Steven is having some sort of training in repairing pipes. Apparently he didn't do too well in his SPM, hence waiting for July to do a particular paper. Decent guys. No takers. Anyone? =P

Ohh yes! I forgot to mention earlier. I requested them to help me in my worship leading the following day, and so did Daniel for his. We had practises, and it went quite well. Only for Daniel's though. My practice was a bit of a struggle, as they were to play 3 totally unfamiliar songs. This is the first time I had to practise so many times. Phew....

I learned something from there: I had to adapt to them, not make them adapt to me. Back in CGBC Ipoh and Kampar, it'll only take me at most an hour to practise. Man, I don't even need half an hour in Kampar! But when I practise with them, I thought I was still having musicians who can understand me within an instant. I then decided that I should adapt to them instead, and it got easier. Praise God for this lesson.

12 a.m

Bedtime came, and all of the campers were in bed already. Me and Daniel decided to sleep back in our room, as the hall was full of girls. Hee Hee =D

Well that pretty much spells the end of Day Four. Couldn't believe that the mission trip was already half way through, but that's a fact. Can't wait for another exciting day with God and the Sarawakians...

My Original? =P

Not sure if anyone came up with this before, though I'm VERY SURE someone came up with something similar. But here's to my very original quote (I think and I hope =D)

"Behind the life of every person, lies a history that shaped their today."

Eugene Goh

Wao... Bangganya. XD

Just so ya understand.

Love with God's love
And you can
And will
Love everyone and everything

Understand with God's wisdom
And everything will make sense

Be bold with God's courage
And you'll be prepared
To face anything

Be joyful in the Lord
For that's the source of true happiness

Be faithful in Him
And all that is seemingly impossible
Will be possible in Him

Pray according to His will
Although not all things will work out well
You will realise that
God's actually doing it for YOUR good

Be patient with God's patience
And you'll wait for anything.
