24

THe event below took place on the 3rd of January, between 9a.m to 11.30p.m. Events happened during local time.

January 3rd 2009. Saturday. There's an event later during the day, called Ipoh International Youth Rally, organised by Scripture Union Malaysia. It's an event where the youths of nine churches in Ipoh gathered, together with the people of Scripture Union Malaysia, who are from other Asian countries like Japan, Korea, Cambodia, and Myammar. My church CGBC is also part of the event, where we'll be up there leading the people into worship during altar call.

It was raining. Not too heavily, but still, it does not look like it would stop. Weather was gloomy, the sun was blocked by the clouds.. Anyways, had a prayer meet for the worship team playing later. Team members were: MayJet, Sam, Lukas, Doreen, Grace, A.Mariane, and ME. We met and 11a.m and prayed.

It was still raining.

12p.m. The weather does not look like afternoon at all. It was still as gloomy as it was in the morning. We set of to ACS, where the rally is being held. MayJet had to detour a bit; she has to go back to a clinic where she saw a doctor the nigth before. Apparently she went out of the clinic without paying her bills. Sam and Grace went with her. So A.Mariane took ME, Lukas and Doreen to ACS first. When we arrived, we saw the stage being set up, the stage which will be used for performances by the students from other countries, and also for the bands the lead the sessions. MayJet and co arrived later. Due to the fact that they were still setting up, we decided to have lunch first.

It was still raining.

1.15p.m We arrived somewhere in town which I'm not too familiar with, because I don't often go to that area. Anyways, arrived at a coffee shop, where we had our lunch. Man, it was fantastic! In that shop, you don't have to go to a specific stall to order food. They will come to you! They had stalls for chicken rice, noodles, and best of all, SATAY! This satay is not any other ordinary Malay-cooked satay, in fact is chinese-cooked. A man came to our table, and asked whether we wanted satay. Grace said yes, and that was it! We don't have to make any specific orders about what kind of satay we want. By defualt, they will give you a plate of satay containing: 20 sticks of "daging", 10 sticks of liver!, and another 10 is for "ayam" if I'm not mistaken. The other good part about it is, they "top up" the satays for you! It's in a way a smart idea, so you won't know how many sticks you have eaten, and by the time you realise, GG Gia. They calculate by the amount of satay you consumed, and from the 7 of us, we consumed a total of 43 sticks! Well, not a bad figure, considering there's 7 of us. Average of 6 sticks per person, though Sam was the "top scorer". Lolx. Finished our lunch, and left to go back to ACS.

It was still raining.

2 plus in the afternoon. Rain was still pouring as it was in the morning. The event starts at 4, and one wonders when it's going to stop. We had our rehearsel, and one of the leaders called for a prayer. You can feel that they are rather desperate now. When we prayed in the morning, we also prayed for the weather, that the rain will stop, so that the carnival before the rally can go on. After praying, Doreen, ME, A.Mariane, Grace, MayJet and Lukas went back to our respective homes. Guess who stayed.

It was STILL raining.

Came back at around 5 plus. I bought Shirley along this time though. Went there, and guess what? I saw AdrianY holding stuff toys of Sesame Street! He was holding a Cookie Monster and an Ernie. There's also one more big pinky cat. Kind of guess he won it from some games he played, and it seems that he won it with Sam. Haha. He kind of loved it, and would kill anyone who touched, tortured or played it (view his blog. It's under "Baboon") Anyways, heard that Arthur and Edwin joined the dancing competition, and entered the finals! I decided to wait somewhere, as the event has yet to begin. Had a suprise when I met Renjie, my coursemate. Had a light chat, then checked out on other CGBC mates. Saw Ming, Jian, Jo and Jon.

It WAS STILL RAINING.

And the event was about to begin. It's not as heavy anymore, but still bad enough that people would put up their umbrellas. However, Praise God for the numbers that were there! Anyways, the event began with cultural performances from the students from the other Asian countries.

Then guess what? THE RAIN STOPPED! RIGHT ON TIME! PRAISE GOD!

Then began the worship sessions: Weasly Methodist started off first, followed by CGMC. The worship was great, with the two bands/worship team using songs (from Hillsong esp) that I'd never imagine being used. Anyways, Pastor Steven Low was the speaker for that night, and his message will be posted in another blog. As he was preaching, our worship team was up there as well, so in a way, our teaming was the longest on stage (tiring sia!) Hehe. God gave us strength alright, to stand that long. He then had altar call, then after his message, Elim Gospel took the finale. The whole thing end at 10 plus.

Decided to not stay any longer. Fetch Rach, Jean, Shirley, then Baboon home. On the way fetching Baboon, we had some "high pitch singing", using Linkin Park songs. Man, didn't know the Baboon sing so well. He sang in such high pitch that it nearly broken every window of every house that we went by (including my own car window and my ear drums! Haha) I could just imagine. Hoh, Baboon ho?

Reached home, super tired, washed up and slept.
